The Usual Suspects

The usual suspects are some of the birds (and other creatures) you can expect to see in and around the feeding stations, along the fence, in the hedges, scurrying and flitting about the yard.

The birds we see in our Orlando backyard are some of the usual Florida suspects:
American Goldfinch
Blue Jay
Carolina Chickadee
Carolina Wren
Mourning Dove
Northern Cardinal
Northern Mockingbird
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Tufted Titmouse
Brown-Headed Cowbirds
Red Winged Black birds
Grackles

added to the list are
hummingbirds
butterflies
dragonflies
bumble bees
yellow jackets
wasps
hawks
buzzards
moths
lovebugs
the occasional ducks

Shameless cat sharing....
Midnight and Sammy have their own instagram page if you want to follow them

this is Midnight our finicky, skittish black cat and first adopted pet, he is harder to photograph
and usually just looks perturbed. Usually he turns his head or walks away right when I think I have a good shot.

this is our cuddly, fluffy, well nourished adopted tabby cat-Sammy or Sam Sam
as I like to call him. He is very easy to photograph.

oh and the Critters
our two adopted cats- Midnight and Sammy
another neighborhood cat who thinks my backyard is his- named Mickey
Squirrels, squirrels and more squirrels
Armadillos
opossums- I think they just call them possums down here
our resident Black Snake
a host of frogs
lizards
the occasional field mouse luckily with our cats, Mickey and the black snake they have not been seen lately at the feeders
colorful grasshoppers

We may have others but between trying to match up what I am seeing with google searches, I may not always be 100% on point. In addition to filming the feeders, I try to regularly get out a take pictures, because so much more activity takes place outside of the camera's FOV. Most of the time it through the window or screened in patio so it doesn't scare them off. It is such a wonderful and calming site to see them, I really would like to share this experience with anyone who is interested and likes to bird watch or just needs a break from the tons of stuff on the web. I don't have the big fancy lenses, I have lenses meant for shooting occasions at a relatively close distance but hopefully can upgrade to more wildlife specific cameras and tech within the next few months, at least before next spring...that's the goal.

Not sure if this cardinal was trying to make sure I captured his best side or if he was looking left, right, and left again before crossing from one fence to the other. taken in Jan 2019

This picture looks a little like something for Winter but our January winter is mild compared to most of the US
